They went to great lengths to duplicate the contours of the stock tank, to retain the original Fat Bob looks. Once installed, the "King" Fat Bob looks like an integral piece of the motorcycle and not just an oversized bolt on accessory. This tank holds over 6 gallons (23L.) of fuel, offering you the extra mileage needed. The brackets and insides of the tank are made from extra heavy gauge, reinforced steel to carry the extra weight of the fuel. Unlike the competition's tanks, this tank has flowing lines without any flat spots and doesn't need excessive plaster before spraying. Fits all Softail models 1984 thru 1999. Tanks are approx. 18" (46cm) wide and an impressive 25" (64cm) long and take 7 Gallon (26.5L.) of fuel. Installation requires the seat to be customized or use of a custom seat. Tanks for carburetor equipped models are smooth top, those for EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection) come complete with a raw steel custom dash. It is not recommended as a primer finish for paint applications without proper surface preparation. As with any fuel tank, particularly one where custom paint is to be applied, all tanks must be pressure tested, then cleaned with tank cleaner and sealed with tank sealer before painting, to protect the final finish and prevent internal rust during winter storage. Fuel capacity is measured with tank in upright position, angle of parked bike will determine actual capacity of the fuel tank.
